I'm not so much a Do-it-Yourself-er... I'm more of a Mess-it-Upper. It takes me waaaaay too long to put together a piece of Ikea furniture and my arts and crafts time always seems to turn into me thinking "I'm covered in paint and glue with nothing to show for it. How did this get so out of hand?"
But, this recent DIY project that I modeled after the lovely Tiffany Leigh's "Brilliant Glitter Art" of Tiffany Leigh Interior Design was almost too easy and the results are pretty cool.
All things considered with this DIY project, I "got shit done."
Materials
Frames
Card Stock
Glue
Glitter
Newspaper
A Strong Pour of Your Favorite Glass of Wine (Mascato for me, please)
Write your word or phrase on the cardstock with glue.
It took me several tries to get it right. Patience is a virtue here.
Cover the glue with glitter.
Let dry for at least one hour. Place cardstock inside frame and BOOM: you just created a sweet DIY framed pick-me-up!
I made some for my friends at work who also like using curse words as motivation. When I gave the frame to my friend, Katie, she asked if I had used a glitter pen to write out the words... hahah genius way to make this easy DIY project a little less painful.
Also, beware: glitter gets everywhere so make sure to lay out some newspaper before you get started. I didn't as my boyfriend will fondly recall. After my DIY project, he went to a work event and his boss leaned over to him at one point and asked him if he had glitter on his face and if he had gone to a strip club that day... heheheheheheehe
I LOVE IT..might have to copy that one..that painting in the first pic is AMAZING!

I love simple projects like this. I do not however love glitter since as you said, it gets EVERYWHERE.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your interpretation of this DIY girl, you nailed it! xo
ReplyDeleteLoving your glitter project...so cute!
ReplyDeleteHAHA that would totally happen to my boyfriend. He's always moaning about the plethora of girly/crafty things around the house. Strip club. I lol-ed. Btw, I love this because I too love to use curse words as motivation. My coworkers can attest to this.
ReplyDeleteNewest follower and thanks for stopping by :) Love this and my favorite wine is moscato as well!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Great job on your DIY project! I rarely attempt any for the same reason. Ohhh and by the way, I literally laughed so hard about your bf's glittery face and his boss calling him out on it... that is the stuff only sitcoms are made of, not real life. Love it haha!
ReplyDeleteLove this DIY!
ReplyDeleteSo simple yet creative.
