Interior Design using the Tee Pee

New York was a BLAST! More about my trip later this week... But first, my Monday Post:

Last summer, I went to a friend's home in Laguna Beach. The family consists of professional photographer/surfer dad and his gorgeous and talented chef/pilates instructor wife and their two crazy (but amazing) kids.

Their home was a beach bungalow set in the flowing hills of Laguna Beach. Their living room was all white and included something I had never seen before in a home: a teepee! It was a smaller teepee set up in the corner of the living room and was meant for a place for the kids to play but the parents admitted that they crawled into the space, which was stuffed with blankets and pillows, to read, relax and occasionally nap.

I fell in love with the idea and swore to myself (and future husband and kids) that I, too, would have a teepee. Maybe not in the living room, but at least in a kids playroom or in the backyard.

Here are some examples of how to infuse your home with the teepee look:

  1. I have been noticing tepees in design lately and think it would be the perfect 'curl up and read a book area'! I definitely need one at least in the yard!

  3. Such a cute idea, but one I've never seen in person! How awesome you saw a cool family actually implementing this design idea into real life.

  7. If I added one of these (and a playmate) to my living arrangements, I could play cowboy and Native-American using my existing pillow fort.
