First of all, thank you SO much for ALL of your sweet comments from Friday's post. You are all so wonderful and supportive and I feel like I have a fabulous army backing me up at all times. Thank you So much for that. Your support means the WORLD to me. It still blows me away that I have this wonderful community of friends from blogging. Muah!
So, I've always wanted to do a post that focused on decorating small spaces. As I have mentioned before, the boy and I have been house hunting for almost a year now.... and we finally received some good news! Our offer was accepted on a fabulous town home in Ocean Beach just last night! We are official homeowners! Woo hoo! Cue the happy dance! The home is so cute and we could not be more excited to start our life together in a new home that we can call our very own.
From the start of our home hunt, we knew that if we wanted to buy a home by the beach... we needed to get used to the idea of a smaller space. Our community of Ocean Beach is filled with beach bungalows that are insanely expensive and insanely small. So we could either buy a home that was really small right in the heart of the community or move a bit farther out and have a bit more space in exchange. So, we went with the latter. We have a bit more space but the place is still not insanely huge... cue the decorating limitations.
The idea of owning a home that is on the smaller end makes wonder... How can I ever decorate a home in my style that has a fairly small square footage? Well, lucky for me, there are tons of great decorators out there that know how to make the most of a small space. Here are some great finds and tips I've picked up along the way!

I'm OBSESSED with that black and white bedroom. And congrats to you guys! How exciting!!
ReplyDeleteI love the multipurpose and mirror tip. I love to use a desk in a bedroom as a semi console table but also a desk still. Also another way to do this is use a console table as a bedside table and push a chair into it. Instant desk/bedside table.
ReplyDeleteYay congratulations! Dining rooms are not a must anymore, I've transformed ours into an office.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing! lovee the black/white entryway with the standing mirror! gorgeous!

Agreed that lots of light and use of whites will make the space look larger. Being able to go vertical with pieces will elongate the rooms instead of horizontal. I.e. Tall bookshelves or tall table with stool/high chair seating instead of short entertainment center and normal height table. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate! How exciting!

Love the small home inspiration! My go-to is Houzz.com for all things interior design.
ReplyDeleteYes! Houzz is the best! Thanks!!!
DeleteFantastic images and tips you have compiled here! I do think it is worth noting that as cool as those glass shower doors look they do have a tendency to break at inopportune moments leaving the person in the shower naked, wet and surrounded by and possibly already cut by broken glass.
ReplyDeleteAlso, congratulations to you both on finding a new place to live.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteLove these spaces and tips. BTW, congrats on all of your exciting news! You've got a lot going on, girl!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jamie!!!
DeleteYay! Congratulations! Welcome to the Home Owners club! Can't wait to see all the things you do to your new place. I try to keep things light and bright in small spaces. LOVE some lucite pieces as well since they don't take up visual space.
