San Diego is a wonderful place to be when you are young and in love... and like to eat! There are too many date spots to count but I thought that I would share a few of my personal favorites with you. Have you been to any of these restaurants before?
There is not a better place to kick back and enjoy a little wine along with your meat and cheese board around an olive tree than this spot. Down the street from my old digs, this place has an endless supply of yum. Be sure to try to Roasted Cherry Tomato + Burrata + Basil Pesto and the Cacio e Pepe. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
You've all heard of Hash House a Go Go, right? Well, this is the sister restaurant located right across the street. Serving up the same famous portions of insanely delicious brunch fare, I think the Tractor Room is better than it's famous sister restaurant. Try the Free Range Wild Boar Hash or the House Smoked Salmon and Rock Shrimp Cake Benedict and whatever you do, order a side of the gravy. You will want to swim in it.
My man and I can't get enough if this place. So cozy and romantic you will want to curl up in front of the fireplace after your meal for a nap. French cuisine and delicious drinks can be found here. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Goat Cheese and Beet Flatbread and Steak Frites are our favorites.
Situated in adorable Golden Hill in San Diego, the Turf Supper Club is among the first to employ the "cook-your-own" concept. Started in 1956, I don't think much has changed since it first opened its doors. Kitschy cowboy decor and red leather boots small enough that you have to get friendly with your neighbors. Did I mention the bucket martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives? Woof!
This gorgeous restaurant is set in a lush courtyard overlooking the gardens of Balboa Park. The Calamari Appetizer is to die along with their wine selection. Come here for lunch after exploring the museums or before catching a play at The Globe Theater.
I will bookmark these, I have never been to San Diego but would love to go there and of course finally get to meet you!
ReplyDeleteThat first picture has me SO HUNGRY now.

House Smoked Salmon and Rock Shrimp Cake Benedict?? Drooling! I'll have to save these suggestions for the next time I'm on the west coast :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hot tips! My husband and I need to get down there more often for sure. We always talk about taking the short train ride down. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. I feel like I don't get down to San Diego often enough. Prob because a lot of my friends are in LA, I know where to go around there. In San Diego it's kind of like a shot in the dark for me.
ReplyDeleteI have not been to any of these amazing places. I am the worst San Diego-ite!
ReplyDeleteWill definitely keep these in mind for next time we're down there (we're in LA, but love SD!). The smoked salmon and rock shrimp cake benedict alone sounds like it's worth the trip!

Yay! All great spots! I love Davanti...we use to go ALL of the time before we moved up north. Same with Turf Club but we did the Strip Club downtown (for all of you non SD people, it's restaurant - not an actual strip club!) :)

I am sooooo glad you did this post! My husband and I are going to visit San Diego this summer and since I haven't lived there for over 6 years, I have no clue where to take him to eat ...other than my fave hole in the wall spots. Thank you thank you...and now I am really hungry! xo
ReplyDeleteThey all look so good! I need to go to San Diego!
ReplyDeleteOmg my mouth is watering! That burger must taste amazing! I will definitely check out these places when I'm in the SD area:)!
ReplyDeleteThe only place I have been to on this list is The Prado. I agree that it is a great restaurant to hit up before going to a play at the Old Globe. I will have to check out the others now that I am aware of them.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your weekend.
what a great post! these look like awesome places!
