Mexican Getaway

This past weekend was absolutely amazing. My fiancĂ© and I, along with several close friends, traveled down to Puerto Nuevo, Mexico, for a wedding.  I can't even begin to tell you how much I needed this trip and how recharged I feel. It's funny how a vacation can do that, isn't it?

So we drove down on Thursday mid-afternoon and arrived at our resort, The Hotel Grand Baja. It was nothing spectacular, but then again, does it really need to be? We had a great group of friends, an amazing view of the coastline, a pool to cool off in, plenty of Mexican food to enjoy and always a tasty beverage on hand. That's all I need for a good time. Oh, and there was a masseuse on hand. Party on.

A few highlights:
One night, we headed into downtown Puerto Nuevo to enjoy "bottomless" margaritas, cervesas, fresh ceviche, beans, rice, tortillas, guacamole and... lobster! We had platefuls of the buttery goodness and left the restaurant feeling fat and happy. All that for $30 a person. Not bad.

Another day, we headed up the coastline a bit and found a hidden gem called Hotel Calafia, home of The Point Cafe, whose catchphrase was "Drinks, fun and sun on a bun." A hook that good is a guaranteed good time in my book. We had the most beautiful lunch on the terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I feasted on the best fish tacos I've ever had. The shrimp must be happier in Mexico... happy=delicious.

My girlfriend and I woke up a bit earlier than everyone else one morning, so we snuck out to sit right on the water's edge. We just caught up, talked about life and reflected on our weekend and how wonderful life was at that very moment. Every few minutes, the waves would splash up on the cliffside and completely drench us.

Clint and I had so much fun at the wedding. We love the bride and groom and there love was so apparent during their vows. It reminded Clint and I that we were next! It got us both very excited and I'm starting to look forward to the ceremony and what it really means to me. It's not the flowers or the food, it's the commitment that we make to each other and sharing that love and commitment with our family and friends.
