Movie Review // Her

Over the weekend, Clint and I saw "Her," a science fiction romantic comedy-drama written and directed by Spike Jonze. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this movie, especially considering the premise of the movie is a man falling in love with the operating system of his computer. Weird sounding, I know, but it was such a beautiful story. The emotions that the main character goes through are so relatable. It makes you think about how we communicate with one another, relationships and the ever evolving technological front.

I encourage everyone to go see this gem of a movie! Plus, Joaquin Phoenix is easy on the eyes and Scarlett Johansson's voice is easy on the ears. AND bonus points for the film score, which was composed largely in part by Arcade Fire.

  1. I really want to see it - I loved the trailer and the story of it. We can definitely see a resemblance in how we interact with technology these days and how it affects us and our relationships with others. And who wouldn't want to listen to Scarlett Johansson speaking? I think I might get my husband to watch it with me on the Valentine's Day night! xo

  2. Loved it. They did such a good job of portraying the future in a realistic way too! I can totally see that being LA in the future.

  3. You know, I saw the movie but wasn't entirely crazy about it. I loved certain aspects- the futuristic waistlines on the mens trousers, the scenery and yes the emotion was fantastic, but the realism of how someone could fall for an inanimate object just couldn't escape me. I'd still go see it though, it was up for a few awards. ;)

  4. Movies are many things to many people. They inspire, entertain, and give us a reason to think about issues. These are the things that make movies important to society.
