Mellow Yellow

We're getting some rain downpour here in San Diego, which I am very happy about. The rain gives me an excuse to exercise all of my favorite total loser, shut-in fantasies... watching movies, reading books, crafting, and ordering lots of take-out. I'll take any excuse to lay low on the weekend! 

Despite the rainy weather, I wanted to put together a post that uses the warm, sunshiney color of yellow for inspiration. After all, it seems that rain is often associated with the color yellow... yellow rain-boots... yellow raincoat... Wonder why that is...Anyone know? Anyways, Enjoy!

Pantone Color of the Year 2013: Emerald

Have you guys heard? 
The Pantone Color of the Year 2013 is Emerald! 
I am just looooving it! 
It's happy-go-lucky and calming at the same time. 
But just how influential is the announcement? 

Color forecasters, fashion designers and store buyers really do put some stock in 
the Pantone choice of color. Pantone's press release cited that Tracy Reese, Nanette 
Lepore and Marimekko plan to infuse the color into their Spring collections and 
Sephora is creating a Pantone Emerald beauty collection to be released in the spring.

So it sounds like we will be seeing a lot more emerald on the runways and shelves this season. 
I couldn't be happier... but I guess that's the point! The color is supposed to be a great mood enhancer!

Brush It Under The Rug

Monday was a fabulous day. I finally had the time to organize my jewelry drawer, did a
mile high pile of laundry, picked out color combinations for several jewelry items
from my GlamourMash Etsy Store (soon to launch, hooray!) and I finally got
around to styling my new Tuscan Moroccan Shag Rug thanks from Rugs USA

I was so excited when it arrived at my doorstep. It was even more beautiful and luxurious
than I imagined. I am in literal rug heaven! I could not wait to style it in our
bedroom underneath our dark wood dresser. I arranged our New York and
Los Angeles Ork Posters on the dresser along with some items from around
the house including my Nate Berkus Decorative Ram's Head and
Jonathan Adler Uppers Canister to complete the look.

Rugs USA Collaboration

Oh Rugs USA, how I love thee. 

When I'm looking for interior decorator inspiration, I can always find exactly what I'm looking for at Rugs USA. The selection is stellar, with rugs ranging from animal print to traditional, shag to over-dyed and patterned to Moroccan. 

Rugs are an integral part of our home. We have hardwood floors throughout our apartment, which are gorgeous and all, but there is nothing like feeling something soft and cozy under your feet, especially during cold winter months! 

I've put together three collections using some of my favorite chairs, rugs and mirrors from Rugs USA (Yes, they carry other fabulous home decor besides rugs). Which collection is your favorite?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

I'm in one of those moods. Feeling the need to rearrange furniture... throw out some old... in with some new. Usually, my wallet gets nervous when I'm in one of these moods, but alas, I think I've rounded up some pieces that are fairly inexpensive.

Oh and did I mention I've been feeling the white and grey winter wonderland type hues for decorating lately... in case you couldn't tell from this post :)

I've really been lusting after this grey zebra rug (1) from Rugs USA. Have you been visited the Rugs USA website yet? If not, hop on it! They have an incredible selection. I can see this rug under the perfect black credenza or underneath two of these luxurious armchairs (7) from West Elm accompanied by these fabulous grey Mongolian Lamb pillows (3) from West Elm. I've always wanted to stack some white trunks in my room or use some as a coffee table. I found this white trunk (6) and I'm thinking it's simply gorgeous! Prop your feet up on this perfect palmer stool (4) from Z Gallerie. And this pretty space could be accented with the perfect lighting compliments of this cluster glass pendant (2) from West Elm. Finally, a silver morton skull (5) from Z Gallerie, because skulls seem to be about my favorite piece of stament accessory lately.
